hey guys.. so doing a fair bit of reading on modding these. Thanks for the material Johnnyb..
happy enough with which caps etc to change but..
how would changing the value of the pots (eg drive or tone) affect the sound? if it worthwhile doing what value should they be changed to?
can a regular ts808 be run at 18v or will this bugger up the pedal?
thanks in advance

I think aspects will change, but for the most, its a tubescreamer....... and will keep alot of its personality......... you really can only mod it to sound better at what it already does....... it seems silly to mod it to sound like something else completly :-[
If I want a Rat like pedal, I get a rat, or a clone, which improves it, or a modded one..... Same with the TS

I'll just through in my 5 cents, but I think Mika's comments are very valid. As a guitarist who sits in a rural setting I don't get around to much effects and "demo" any pedal via youtube, as the closest shop with proper stock is in Cape Town. (+/- 350km's from me ). So I'm not a fundy on tone and always asked why should a Ts be modded. Once again I disqualify myself as there are people who are modding the stuff and are selling them, but as a process manager I would only ask one question, what is it that you want to change about the existing pedal? That would indicate what needs to be changed. But I realise as I'm having this verbal "droppings" that all the readers are going "duh, logically, hellooooo?" ???
Looking forward to the responses from people who actually can give you serious and direct feedback as I'm itching in building effect stuffies again. Hoping to put my high-school N3 electronics to some good use finally. hehe.

i dont actually want to change the nature of the beast.. just want more bass and gain response which im told the keeley mod will do..
then i got to thinking.. if pot changes affect tone in guits.. what will it do in a pedal.
just info.. i dont want to reinvent the pedal

Guitar circuits are high impedance, so small things like pots can make a lot more difference.
